History This Durban private school has a history of the best matric results in KZN
Eden Schools were established in Gauteng over 30 years ago. Eden soon established a reputation for excellence. It was the first school to have a candidate achieve 9 distinctions in Matric. The following year one of our pupils achieved 10 distinctions, another first for the school. Eden graduates not only achieved at school, but continue to achieve at University and in their professions. Eden graduates are found in most professions, and on the boards of leading companies.
The present Chief Executive of Eden, Mr Allan Zulberg co-founded Eden in 1974. He played a leading role in the establishment of Midrand University and Educor. He was an executive director of Educor during the period in which Educor grew to be one of the largest listed education companies in the world. He also served as Chief Executive of King David Schools for a time. Mr Zulberg taught Mathematics and Physical Science for many years, and also served as headmaster of Eden Lyndhurst.
Eden Schools operate in Lyndhurst, Randburg and Durban. Its head office is in Lyndhurst, Johannesburg. Mr Joe Khouri is Chief Operating Officer , an experienced educator, past principal and lecturer at Wits University. Mr Allan Fehler is the group Financial Director.
In 2007 Eden opened in Durban. The school was previously managed by Crawfordschools. A superb team of excellent experienced teachers have been recruited, most of these having previously taught at Crawford. This has ensured the continuation of the proud tradition of a school that was founded nearly 40 years ago, and which has boasted many of the top results in KwaZulu-Natal. The school operates a pre-primary in Musgrave as well as a Preparatory, Middle School and College High School in Glenmore.
2007 proved to be a most successful year with pupils being offered a multitude of subjects and many co-curricular activities. This allowed our pupils opportunities in a wide range of academic, sporting, cultural and leisurely pursuits and enabled them to grow as well-balanced individuals.
In 2008 the Pre-Primary School moved to the new purpose-built premises in Convent Close, joining the rest of the Eden family on one campus. This has ensured continuity of education from grade 000 to matric all on one campus.
Since then, the school has made impressive strides in accumulating kudos for exceptional academic results and incredible achievements in the cultural sphere. The final matriculation results each year are among the best in the country with an average of over 3,5 As per candidate on an ongoing basis. These results are published widely in the Press each January. Th3e results of the Class of 2011 were the best of any school in South Africa - both IEB and NSC. The average of 4,2 As per candidate was unprecedented and is a record that will no doubt still be standing for years to come.
